Why the model number matters
Your appliance's model number is the key to finding the right parts, understanding warranty coverage, and getting accurate troubleshooting advice. Every error code guide, spare part listing, and service manual is specific to your model — without it, you're guessing. The model number tells you the exact variant, production year, and regional spec of your machine.
Where to find it on Washing Machines
Open the door fully and check the inner door rim — most manufacturers place a data plate here on a silver or white sticker. If it's not there, check inside the detergent drawer (pull it all the way out) or behind the machine on the back panel near the water inlet.
The model number is usually a mix of letters and numbers (e.g. WM80484HC or DW-FG720S). Write it down exactly as shown — even small differences matter.
Finding it on dishwashers
Open the dishwasher door and look along the top edge of the door frame or the side edges. Some models have the data plate on the inner door panel itself. If not visible, check the left or right side of the tub interior near the top.
Locating it on fridges and freezers
For fridge-freezers, the data plate is typically inside the fridge compartment on the left or right wall, or on the ceiling. For standalone fridges, check the back panel near the compressor. American-style units often have it on the interior left wall.
Don't confuse the serial number with the model number. The model number identifies the product type; the serial number identifies your specific unit. You need the model number for parts and guides.
Finding it on ovens and cookers
Open the oven door fully and check the frame around the oven cavity — usually on the right side or top edge. For built-in ovens, it may also be on the front control panel fascia (pull the door all the way down to see it). Freestanding cookers often have it on the back panel.
Take a photo of the data plate with your phone. This way you'll always have the model number, serial number, and production date to hand when ordering parts or calling customer support.
