What does the LG LE error code mean?
LE (Locked Motor Error) means LG’s direct drive motor is not moving or is not reaching the expected speed. Causes include an overloaded drum, a jammed drum (foreign object between drum and tub), worn motor hall sensor, or in rare cases a motor stator failure.
How to fix the LG LE error code
- Check for overloading — remove half the laundry and try again on a short cycle.
- Try rotating the drum by hand through the open door. It should move smoothly and quietly. Grinding or resistance suggests an obstruction or bearing issue.
- Listen for a humming sound when the machine should be spinning — if it hums but does not turn, the motor is receiving power but is jammed.
- Unplug the machine. Check inside the drum gap (front edge of drum) for coins, bra underwires, or socks that have slipped through.
- LG’s direct drive motors are generally reliable — if none of the above resolves it, a professional diagnosis is recommended.
