What this error means
Motor fault — the drum motor is not running or has stopped unexpectedly
The E06 error means the motor control system has detected that the drum motor has failed to start, has stalled, or has drawn an abnormal current. On Beko belt-drive models this is commonly caused by worn carbon brushes, a broken or slipped drive belt, or a motor winding fault. On Direct Drive models a failed Hall sensor or loose rotor bolt are common causes. An overloaded drum or a foreign object jamming the drum will also produce E06.

Step-by-step
Symptoms to look for
- Drum not spinning or tumbling at any stage of the programme
- Drum rotates in short stuttering movements rather than smoothly
- Loud humming from the motor area with no drum movement
- Burning smell from the rear of the machine during a cycle
- Machine fills and heats correctly but the drum remains completely stationary
Diagnostic steps
Unplug the machine and leave the door open for a minimum of 15 minutes. The motor's internal thermal protection requires complete cooling before it will reset. Plug back in and try a Spin Only cycle with an empty drum.
With the machine unplugged, place your hand inside the drum and rotate it slowly clockwise then anti-clockwise. Resistance should be smooth and consistent throughout. Any grinding, catching, or complete seizure indicates a physical obstruction or mechanical fault.
Shine a torch through the drum perforations and look into the gap between the drum and the outer tub. Coins, underwires, and small items frequently jam here. Use long-nose pliers to retrieve anything visible.
With the machine unplugged, remove the rear panel. The drive belt loops around the drum pulley and the motor pulley. Check whether it is present, seated correctly in both pulley grooves, and under tension.
Press the tab on each brush holder and slide it out. The carbon rod must be at least 5 to 7 mm long. Rods shorter than this have worn out and must be replaced. Replace both brushes together.
Inspect the Hall sensor harness connector on the stator — it must be fully seated. Check the central rotor retaining bolt is tight.
When to call an engineer
- Carbon brushes worn below 5 mm — both must be replaced
- Drive belt is snapped, cracked, or has derailed from one or both pulleys
- Motor winding reads open circuit on a multimeter — motor needs replacing
- Hall sensor reads no signal after connector reseating — sensor has failed
