Mix a small amount of washing-up liquid with warm water. Dampen a cloth — not dripping wet, just lightly damp. Wipe firmly around each button edge, working the cloth gently into the gap between the button and the panel surround. Pay particular attention to any buttons that felt sticky. Allow the panel to dry completely — at least 15 minutes — before plugging back in.
Examine each button visually. On some Samsung models the soft-touch button domes can absorb moisture and swell slightly, causing them to sit proud of the panel and remain in partial contact with the switch beneath. A swollen button dome will look slightly raised compared to its neighbours.
After the panel has dried completely, plug the machine in without pressing any buttons. Watch the display for 30 seconds — if bE does not appear immediately, try selecting a programme and starting it. If bE appears only when a specific button is pressed, that button assembly is faulty.
With the machine unplugged, remove the top panel by undoing the rear screws. The control panel connects to the main board via a multi-pin ribbon cable or harness connector.
