What this error means
Inverter motor fault — the inverter board or Direct Drive motor has detected a fault
The E08 error is specific to Beko washing machines fitted with an inverter-driven motor. E08 indicates the inverter board has detected an abnormal condition in the motor circuit — overcurrent, undercurrent, Hall sensor failure, or a communication loss between the inverter and the main control board.

Step-by-step
Symptoms to look for
- Machine starts a spin cycle then stops immediately with E08
- Drum rotates briefly then stops with a buzzing or humming sound
- E08 appears during the spin phase but not during slow wash tumbling
- Machine works intermittently — completing cycles sometimes and showing E08 on others
Diagnostic steps
Unplug the machine and hold the power button for 10 seconds to drain residual charge from the inverter capacitors. Leave unplugged for 15 minutes. Plug back in and try an empty Spin Only cycle immediately.
With the machine unplugged, rotate the drum slowly in both directions. Smooth, even resistance confirms no obstruction. Grinding or seizure indicates a mechanical fault causing excess current draw.
With the machine unplugged, remove the rear panel. Check that the central rotor retaining bolt is tight — a loose rotor causes erratic current readings.
The Hall sensor is a small PCB on the stator body, connected by a thin multi-pin harness. Inspect the connector — it must be fully and firmly seated. Disconnect and firmly reconnect.
Check all connectors between the inverter board and the stator, and between the inverter board and the main control board. Disconnect and firmly reseat each. Look for burnt insulation, chafed wires, or corroded pins.
With the machine unplugged and all connectors disconnected from the stator, test the resistance between winding terminals with a multimeter. An open circuit or zero reading indicates a failed stator winding.
When to call an engineer
- Hall sensor reads no signal after connector reseating — sensor has failed
- Stator winding reads open circuit or short to earth — motor needs replacing
- Inverter board shows visible burn damage or E08 persists after all connections reseated
- Rotor retaining bolt is loose — rotor is moving on the drum shaft
