What does the Indesit F06 error code mean?
F06 means the door interlock mechanism is not confirming the door is properly locked. The machine will not start any cycle until the door lock is confirmed as secure. This is a very common fault, particularly on machines over 4 years old as the interlock solenoid wears with repeated use.
How to fix the Indesit F06 error code
- Push the door firmly closed and listen for a clear click from the lock.
- Check the door seal for clothing caught between the seal and the door glass — this is a very common cause.
- Try unplugging for 5 minutes and restarting — the lock solenoid occasionally needs a reset.
- Inspect the door catch and hook assembly for cracking or deformation.
- Door interlocks are one of the most commonly replaced washing machine parts and cost £10–18. Replacement takes around 20 minutes and requires only a screwdriver.
