What does the LG dE error code mean?
dE (Door Error) means the machine’s door locking mechanism has not confirmed the door is shut and locked. The machine will not start any programme until the door lock is confirmed. This is usually caused by the door not being fully closed, laundry in the seal, or a faulty door lock assembly.
How to fix the LG dE error code
- Push the door firmly closed until you hear a click from the lock mechanism.
- Check the rubber door seal for any items of laundry caught in the fold — this is a very common cause.
- Inspect the door catch and the corresponding hook on the machine’s body for damage.
- Unplug for 5 minutes and try again — occasionally the lock solenoid needs a reset.
- If the door clicks closed but the error persists, the door interlock assembly has likely failed. It is a 20-minute job to replace and costs £10–18.
